Christantus Uche Sparks Straightforward Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.
Even though embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season proved outmatched even for a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
